IKEA ÅSKVÄDER: Modular power strip available now

Cupertino, November 13, 2021

IKEA's ÅSKVÄDER modular power strip is a very interesting product in itself, but it also comes with some limitations. Some modules are now available in this country.

How often have you been annoyed by the fact that the power strip has no more free space? Or that the cable of the power strip is a few centimeters too short or much too long? According to IKEA, these problems should be a thing of the past with the modular power strip ÅSKVÄDER.

Sockets and extension cables can be extended

WithÅSKVÄDER you can buy additional modules at any time and expand the power strip by one or two sockets. Up to 10 single sockets or five double sockets can be plugged together and operate devices with up to 3,680W. The extension cable can also be extended by a further 80cm at any time.

Sockets can only be controlled together via Apple HomeKit

With the switch module in combination with the IKEA TRÅDFRI gateway, you can not only integrate the power strip into the IKEA Home smart app, but also control it via Apple HomeKit. There, however, the sockets can only be switched together.

At the current time, there's another catch. While the switch module for 10€, the double socket for 6€, the extension cable for 4€ and even the wall mount for 1,50€ can already be ordered online, the mandatory connection cable is currently still missing. Also the single socket is not available at the moment.

Thus, you can once again go into yourself and think carefully whether you want the modular power strip or rather one of the already available HomeKit multiple sockets, which on the one hand do not require a bridge and on the other hand can predominantly control each outlet individually.
