Ikea Launches New Dirigera-Compatible Color Light Strip

Cupertino, December 2, 2023

A new colored light strip appeared on Ikea's Dutch website (as discovered by Redditor u/ManufacturerOk8154), offering Zigbee connectivity, full colour, in a four-metre length that can be cut to size, for just €29.99. Called ORMANÄS, this is pretty cheap for double the length you traditionally get from most companies' offerings, although as it uses Zigbee it does require Ikea's own Dirigera hub, as per the instructions. This means it's unclear if it will work with their old Tradfri hub, which many will still own. Although light strips cost 'ten cents', so to speak, this could be very welcome for users of Ikea's smart products, not only because of the low price, but also because they can be linked to dimming devices, such as those from the company itself. Styrbar remote control that allows on/off, color control and dimming. As you can see from the picture above, the LEDs are spaced quite a bit apart, resulting in you only getting 640 lumens, which seems to be for the entire strip, not per meter, so this is definitely just for accent lighting. Since it's designed to work with the Dirigera hub, which is HomeKit compatible, it's almost certain that it will also be exposed to HomeKit. One thing the strip does offer is the chance to place the strip in temporary locations using a set of wall mounting clips, rather than having to commit to a location with the double-sided adhesive that is on the back of the strip. strip. This will go some way to helping you move the light strip if the original placement doesn't work for any reason. So far it seems that the comic is only available in stores in the Netherlands, although it is certain that it will soon be released in the rest of Europe and beyond.
