If you're looking for smart lighting to brighten up your home, you're spoiled for choice – and Philips Hue has just added some really cool extras to make your lighting smarter than ever. But not just lighting: a new security camera with a spotlight is available, a first for the brand that previously mainly focused on lighting. The camera is available for purchase starting today, while the lighting unit will be released at the end of February. New smart lamps for outdoors, and something safe The first new lighting from Philips is the Dymera wall lamp, a lamp with what Philips calls 'adjustable beams'.
Philips makes some of the best smart bulbs for Apple Home, so we're looking forward to seeing how these compare. You can control them by placing the light horizontally or vertically for fun lighting options, and the light beams can be manipulated in the app. You can change the color of each bar individually, so you have two different colors at the same time. Slick.

Hue's second major launch is the 'Secure floodlight camera'. Fix it around your home and add it to the Hue app so you can monitor what's happening outside. This camera comes with new security features within the Hue app, making the camera even more secure: “New updates are expected in the first half of 2024 and include improvements to security push notifications and the timeline of events, as well as automatic light and sound alarms when motion is detected.' Hue says it's working to get Amazon Alexa and Google Home support for the secure features in the app, and we've reached out to Philips for information on HomeKit support. This is Hue's first foray into the camera field, so we're curious to see what kind of hardware and software features it brings. We're also looking forward to seeing how it compares to the best smart cameras for Apple Home. The Dydera lamp costs $220/£199 and is coming to the US and UK on February 27. The Secure Floodlight camera costs $350/£299 and is on sale today. More from iMore
