The Nest Learning thermostat teaches you your behavior and temperature preferences by creating an automatic program. It is also compatible with the vast majority of HVAC systems, works with voice assistants and is made of premium materials. But compared to the Nest thermostat, you don't get much more for the extra money, other than the temperature sensor bracket, the finishing kit, the internal battery, and an extra year of warranty coverage.

- Farsight technology automatically illuminates the display when it detects you in the room

- Remarkably more expensive
- Smaller display than Nest thermostat
Like its more expensive sibling, the Nest thermostat has a lot of smart features, but the learning functionality isn't as extensive. It also works with voice assistants and offers most of the same sensors as the Nest Learning thermostat, only the ones needed for Farsight and support for the Nest temperature sensor are missing. It also lacks the metal case and internal rechargeable battery, but the real disadvantage is that it is not compatible with as many HVAC systems as the learning thermostat.
