New Design Concept for iOS Control Center

Cupertino, August 1, 2023

Looking at the Control Center on iOS, which has remained unchanged for years, a new concept has been shared. This concept provides a list-style user interface inspired by the new Messages app in iOS 17. The concept introduces a playful, fluid and customizable approach to the Control Center, along with the ability to integrate third-party apps.

The concept suggests a complete redesign of the Control Center interface on the iPhone. It would include a minimal list view with drop-down menus to access further settings. Users would have the option to pin their favorite controls to the top and rearrange the list according to their preference. The draft also suggests organizing control categories and adding actions from third-party apps.

In terms of functionality, the concept aims to provide a fluid and responsive experience. Users would be able to adjust settings such as volume and brightness by tapping, holding and swiping. In addition, the Flashlight button would light up when activated. While the concept differs from the current Control Center design, it offers a visually appealing and easy-to-use interface.

However, an aspect that has not been included in the concept is the control of HomeKit devices. It would be interesting to see how this new Control Center would handle HomeKit controls compared to the existing design.

On the Android side, there is a similar list style UI called Niagara Launcher. It offers a different approach to organizing and accessing apps on Android devices.

All in all, this Control Center concept presents an exciting and innovative vision for iOS. Whether users love it or hate it, it's a thought-provoking idea that could potentially improve the user experience. read more
