Eve Systems is continuing to transition all Bluetooth devices to Thread and now offers the Eve Room indoor climate and air quality monitor with the new wireless standard.
Thread appears to be the future for low-power, low-traffic smarthome devices. Munich-based Eve Systems was one of the first HomeKit vendors to start equipping its own Bluetooth devices with Thread as well. With success, because the new devices respond much more quickly and reliably.
The new generation of Eve Room now also supports the wireless standard Thread Paving the way for Matter to be supported. The smarthome standard is set to launch next year and is the result of a merger between a number of well-known companies, including Apple, Amazon and Google.
This means that in the future, the new Eve Room will no longer integrate exclusively with Apple HomeKit, but also with other smarthome platforms, including Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Nothing has changed except for Thread, by the way. It still measures volatile organic compounds (VOCs), temperature and humidity. The measured values can not only be used via HomeKit, but can also be read directly via the integrated display. The device is powered by a rechargeable battery that can be easily recharged via micro-USB.
