Aqara at CES 2024

Aqara showcased new HomeKit-compatible smart-home devices at CES 2024 on Monday in Las Vegas, including the Hub M3, Border Router Plug, and Smart Lock U300. Additionally, they introduced an AI chatbot interface for the Aqara Home app. These devices support both Matter and Thread networking standards, providing seamless integration with different platforms. The Hub M3, in particular, allows users to control their entire smart home through a single device.

Hub M3

The highlight of Aqara's CES 2024 announcement is the Hub M3. This multi-protocol hub simplifies the process of building a smart home using HomeKit or other platforms. With connectivity options like Thread, Zigbee 3.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and infrared (IR), the Hub M3 can bring together a variety of Aqara and third-party devices under the Matter protocol. Users can continue using connected devices and automations even without the hub through a process called binding. The Hub M3 also offers optional Power over Ethernet (PoE) and backup mirroring for added peace of mind.

Border Router Plug

The Border Router Plug from Aqara functions as a Thread border router that connects smart home devices. It allows Matter controllers without Thread capabilities to control Thread devices, making it easier to integrate Thread devices into existing smart home setups. The plug is energy-efficient and can provide real-time data on home energy consumption, enabling users to automate their electrical appliances for energy savings.

Smart Lock U300

The Smart Lock U300 is compatible with both Matter and Thread networks, offering interoperability with various smart home platforms. With extended battery life and improved local control, the U300 provides keyless access options, remote control capabilities, and real-time notifications for added security and convenience.

Aqara Home Copilot App Update

At CES 2024, Aqara introduced the Home Copilot, a chatbot interface powered by generative artificial intelligence for the Aqara Home app. This innovative feature uses ambient intelligence to analyze usage patterns in a home and suggest tailor-made automations. Home Copilot can understand natural language commands and configure automations based on user requests, making home automation more intuitive and user-friendly.
