At an online event, Nuki has just introduced the next generation of its smart door lock. Besides the cheaper entry-level model Nuki Smart Lock 3.0, there will be a Pro variant with integrated WLAN in the future.
The new door lock incorporates the proven Nuki technology. Nevertheless, the device is supposed to work much quieter than its predecessor. The form factor has not changed. Instead of the previous 199€, only 149€ are due for the new Nuki Smart Lock 3.0. This should make it easier for price-sensitive customers to get started.
The Smart Lock 3.0 Pro also comes with integrated WLAN, so to speak with a built-in bridge. In addition, the Pro model has an aluminum instead of a plastic knob, comes with a power pack and is available in the two color variants black or white. Proven Nuki technology also works here with the quieter gear. The Pro model costs 100€ more, i.e. 249€.
The existing accessories are also compatible with the new models. So if you initially choose the simple Nuki Smart Lock 3.0, you can also buy a bridge for remote access afterwards.
New, however, is an external door sensor. Until now, the door's state was monitored via a simple magnet. In the future, this will be done by a 39€ external door sensor, which will sound an alarm when the door is open and locked. The new door sensor is probably only compatible with the two new models.
If your door does not have a cylinder with emergency and danger function so far, i.e. it cannot be unlocked if a key is already inserted inside, you will get a universal cylinder for 79€ from Nuki in the future. The length of this cylinder can be adjusted individually.
Even though the Nuki Bridge and the Nuki Opener have not changed technically, both devices will be available in white to match the new models.
If you want to upgrade from the Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 to the new model, Nuki has a little treat in store for you. Existing customers get the new external door sensor worth 39€ for free when buying a new Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 Pro. The old device can be kept. The upgrade package for existing customers will be available in February.
