Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance: Multicolor light strip announces itself

Cupertino, January 14, 2022

Signify already has a multicolored lightstrip on the market with the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip. However, this one is specifically designed to be mounted behind the TV. According to the colleagues from Hueblog, however, another multicolored lightstrip should be available soon.

On the one hand, we find multicolored lightstrips quite exciting, since beautiful effects can be achieved with them. On the other hand, we are not fans of too colorful light installations and therefore mostly limit ourselves to single-color light sources. Especially since HomeKit cannot handle the simultaneous display of multiple colors.

With the new Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance, however, multicolored lightstrips should receive more attention and perhaps Apple will also improve in the future and offer a corresponding device type. As we all know, hope dies last.

Lightstrip can be extended as required

Like the Philips Hue Lightstrip+, the multicolored model is also to come in the basic set with a length of 2m. If the length is not enough, the Lightstrip can be easily extended. The installation is done via a double-sided adhesive tape attached to the back.

We are currently still a bit surprised about the missing HomeKit logo on the product packaging. Only Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are clearly visible here. However, we currently assume that the new Philips Hue Gradient Lightstrip Ambiance will also be controllable via HomeKit, even if only in one color.
