Philips Hue, the expert in smart lighting, is introducing a lineup of home security cameras

Cupertino, September 12, 2023

Philips Hue is expanding its capabilities in the smart security space by launching three new smart security cameras. These cameras, part of the Philips Hue Secure product line, include a wired security camera, a battery-powered security camera, a contact sensor for doors or windows, and a floodlight camera that will be available in 2024. The cameras are all 1080P and can alert users of motion through the Hue app. They can be controlled through the app's Home tab and have blackout zone options. While they require a Hue Bridge, they will use Wi-Fi instead of ZigBee for connectivity. Additionally, Philips has announced support for Matter, allowing for more lights per home and faster switching. However, it should be noted that the cameras will not support Apple HomeKit or have live video integration with Alexa or Google smart displays upon launch. Instead, they will be compatible with brands like Ring, Blink, and Nest. To access video history, users will need to pay a subscription fee starting at $3.99 / €3.99 per month. Expected prices for the cameras range from $199.99 to $349.99.
