Yale is a leading player in the smart lock market, and their latest offering, the Assure Lock 2 Touch, includes an integrated fingerprint reader and a physical backup key. It is compatible with Apple Home and features Bluetooth connectivity. However, it does not support Apple Home Keys. The reviewed model, priced at $280, includes Yale's Wi-Fi Smart Module for remote access from anywhere with an Internet connection. It can integrate with popular smart home systems like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and IFTTT. Airbnb hosts can also register the lock for keyless access for their guests.

The fingerprint reader on the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch is accurate and quick, recognizing fingerprints in less than half a second. The Bluetooth lock and Wi-Fi module can be purchased separately for $200 and $80 respectively. Apple users can access remote features through the Apple Home app if they have an Apple TV, HomePod, or HomePod mini. The Smart Module enhances the lock's Bluetooth radio with Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch with Wi-Fi has a lot of positive features, but Apple users may be disappointed by its lack of support for Apple Home Keys. To access this feature, users would need to opt for the Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus or the Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus with Wi-Fi, both of which are $10 more expensive than their Touch counterparts. However, these models do not include the fingerprint reader or physical backup key.

The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch is smaller than previous models and is available in satin nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, and black suede finishes. It is rated as an ANSI/BHMA Grade 2 product and fits doors of various thicknesses. The numeric keypad is activated by touch and has a backlight for easy visibility at night, but it may be difficult to see in direct sunlight.

Installation of the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch is relatively straightforward, and Yale provides detailed instructions and templates. The lock can be paired with Yale's smartphone app to enroll users, including owners and guests. Owners have full programming access, while guests can use a PIN, fingerprint, or the app for lock access. However, it's important to note that registered fingerprints cannot have restricted access.

In conclusion, the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch with Wi-Fi offers a range of smart features and compatibility with major smart home ecosystems. However, it falls short in terms of Apple Home Keys support and visibility of the numeric keypad in direct sunlight.
