Aqara U200 now available with Apple Home key support

Cupertino, July 9, 2024

Apple’s Home Key continues to slowly make its way into more smart home locks. Aqara, fresh from the release of the U50 smart lock, has just released the Aqara U200 with advanced security features, Matter support, Thread support, and Apple Home Key integration. HomeKit Weekly is a series focused on smart home accessories, automation tips and tricks, and everything related to Apple’s smart home framework. The Aqara U200 lock seems like a great choice for anyone looking to easily upgrade their current locks. Its retrofit design makes it perfect for homeowners and renters, allowing you to upgrade Euro mortise and American bolt locks without changing keys or modifying your door. Installing the Aqara U200 is easy and requires no tools other than a screwdriver. Key Features: Fingerprint recognition: Quick and secure access with the built-in fingerprint reader PIN codes: Personalized codes can be entered into the included wireless keypad. Aqara app users can easily manage guest access with one-time passwords that can be created, shared, and accessed remotely, even when the lock is disconnected from a smart home platform. Mobile Apps & Voice Assistants: Remote access to lock and unlock is available via the Aqara app, Amazon Alexa, HomeKit, Google Home/Google Assistant, SmartThings, Home Assistant, and more. Aqara NFC Cards: Manually and easily unlock with Aqara’s NFC key fobs. Traditional Keys: Emergency access using your original door keys. The U200 lock takes your home security to the next level with advanced encryption that protects against hacking, a tamper alarm on the wireless keypad, and an auto-lock feature that automatically secures your door after a set time. You’ll also receive real-time notifications on your home security status. Building on the popular features of previous Aqara locks, the Aqara U200 offers local and encrypted fingerprint and password storage, anti-peeping PIN code protection, and modes such as Do Not Disturb, Passage, and Night Lock. Additionally, the Aqara U200 introduces a silent unlock mode to reduce noise, a tension spring for handleless or inward opening doors, and convenient turn-to-lock and turn-to-unlock functionality. Built on the Thread protocol, the U200 lock is designed for long-term use. It is powered by rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, with a battery life of up to six months per charge. The IPX5-rated keypad can be powered by AAA batteries or use existing doorbell wiring for permanent power. Aqara U200 Summary We'll have a more in-depth, hands-on review in the coming weeks, but you can buy the Aqara U200 with Apple Home Key support from Amazon and use code 20LFY6XT to save 20% through July 11. I'm a big fan of the Aqara U100 , and with Matter, Thread, and Apple Home Key, the U200 seems like a great addition to the lineup. FTC: We use revenue generating auto affiliate links. More.
