Sleep monitoring functionality added in Aqara FP2 update

Cupertino, October 17, 2023

Since Aqara's last product release – the Dual Relay T2 – there has been a lack of activity. However, with a new firmware update for the company's Presence Sensor FP2, they are revitalizing one of their impressive devices. Firmware update 1.2.3 introduces a new sleep monitoring option for the FP2. Unlike a standard motion sensor that relies on movement, the FP2 is able to detect someone's 'presence' even when they are not moving. Additionally, the FP2's detection field can be divided into up to thirty zones, effectively serving as occupancy sensors for specific areas. Previously, the FP2 could detect presence or falls based on how it was mounted (wall or ceiling). However, with the latest update, the company has added a sleep monitoring option. This feature provides 24-hour contactless monitoring of sleep status and vital signs, including sleep stage reports, real-time heart rate and breathing monitoring, and sleep scenario automation. Although it is currently free to use ("Limited Free"), it is likely to become a paid option later on. The update appears to be available on the Chinese server, but it is not yet available on the US server. We have not updated our Chinese FP2 as it is currently being used as an occupancy sensor. However, if you would like to test this new feature, please let us know your findings. The Aqara FP2 is currently available in most Amazon stores.
