Cupertino, October 7, 2024

In this episode of the HomeKit Insider Podcast, eufy unveils a new Apple Home camera system, Sonos makes a commitment, and even more gear is launched. As we recap the news, we'll start with the latest updates from Sonos. Following their recent app update that introduced alarms, Sonos has now made a new dedication to product quality. Their CEO has announced a multi-point promise to uphold the highest quality for their offerings moving forward, which includes the introduction of a quality ombudsman, regular reports, and internal controls.

In other exciting developments, Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant have become the first two platforms to fully adopt Matter 1.3. This update encompasses new device types such as EV chargers, clothes dryers, and more. Last week, Aqara revealed its U300 smart lever lock, designed for both indoor and outdoor use, featuring multiple authentication methods including fingerprint, Home Key, Matter, passcode, keys, and NFC.

Additionally, eufy has announced the S3 Pro Cam, a wireless 4K camera setup that offers support for HomeKit Secure Video, solar charging, and night vision capabilities. We conclude the episode with a brief hands-on review of the Anker Qi2 MagGo 3-in-1 portable charger, which conveniently folds into a compact package perfect for tossing into your bag.
