After the launch of a HomeKit Secure Video compatible camera in May this year, ONVIS seems to have quietly launched another HomeKit security accessory on Amazon. The ONVIS CT2 Smart Contact Sensor is a wireless accessory designed to be installed directly on door or window frames and can relay status updates via HomeKit when open or closed.

Onvis contact sensor detection will send instant push notifications to iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch when there is a change of status. ONVIS CT2 has a traditional design for HomeKit door and window sensors with a two-piece system consisting of a portion of the magnet and the main sensor housing. The sensor is installed directly on the door or window frames using the included mounting strip and, for optimal location, additional gaskets or spacers can be added to minimize the distance between the two parts. The compact sensor operates on a single CR2450 coin-cell battery, which ONVIS states can withstand for up to a full year before replacement is required.

The CT2 smart touch sensor connects directly to the HomeKit via Bluetooth 5.0 LE, without the need for a dedicated hub or even account registration. Through HomeKit the sensor can be used to send status notifications when a door or window is open and can be used to trigger other HomeKit accessories through automation. In addition to the HomeKit, the sensor works through the ONVIS Home application, which gives users access to a log of events from the last 30 days.

The ONVIS CT2 Smart Contact Sensor is available for pre-order now on Amazon for $ 19.99. Amazon indicates that the sensor will be in stock starting October 15.
