If you're looking for a new smart lock for your expanding smart home, you now have the Ultion Nuki Plus as a new option to consider. The smart lock, which already supported HomeKit and a variety of accessories, has now been upgraded to include Matter support for the first time. The new model, known as the Ultion Nuki Plus Matter Edition, now works with more smart homes, including those powered by Amazon's Alexa, thanks to the new Matter support.
Unfortunately, owners of the previous model cannot update to the new one via a software update, meaning they will need to swap out the physical lock if they want to add Matter support to their door. Nuki has mentioned that owners of the previous locks should reach out to see if there is an upgrade deal available, however.
The new lock is available for preorder at £379 (international pricing not available at the time of writing) with multiple color configurations available. But Matter support is not the only new addition to this model. This upgraded model is also more effective in keeping your home safe.
LockDown Mode
Ultion's press release details a couple of ways that this lock can help keep your home safer, starting with an even-more-secure new 3-star Euro Cylinder lock that includes a feature called LockDown Mode. This feature is triggered when the lock senses a forced entry, locking everything down to prevent intruders from forcing or breaking the lock itself. Ultion is so confident in LockDown Mode's security that it offers a unique £2,000 security guarantee against break-ins by burglars snapping the Police Preferred lock.
Additionally, this new lock is almost identical to the previous model, meaning it comes with a range of accessories that can be added. These accessories include Bluetooth key fobs and a fingerprint keyboard. The lock's built-in Wi-Fi also allows for remote access using the company's app and the Home app on iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch.
