Thinka Z-Wave integrates more than 3,300 devices with HomeKit

Cupertino, January 7, 2022

Unthinkable some time ago, Apple now seems to have changed its mind about general smarthome bridges. The Dutch company Thinka would like with the new product Thinka Z-Wave release a bridge that not only integrates over 3,300 Z-Wave devices into HomeKit. According to the company, Apple has also officially certified the Z-Wave controller.

Apple HomeKit supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and Thread. If devices communicate via a different wireless standard, a bridge is required. Until now, every single device that is to be integrated into HomeKit via the bridge had to be sighted and certified by Apple.

Apparently, the rules have now changed. At the very least, we can't imagine that Thinka also sent the 3,300+ compatible switches, dimmers, thermostats, doorbells, sprinklers, speakers, fans, curtains, and other sensors from 600 different brands to Cupertino right along with the Thinka Z-Wave.
