However, Chamberlain, the company behind the MyQ system, halted its HomeKit accessory last year and has tightened controls over access to the MyQ platform recently.

Meross offers a variety of high-quality HomeKit accessories, including a smart garage door opener designed for HomeKit use.

The Meross smart garage door opener boasts a simple installation process and doesn’t necessitate a hub. It requires two wires that connect to your garage door opener. You will also need to fix a wired sensor at the top of the garage door and a companion sensor on the door itself.

Meross provides comprehensive details regarding compatibility on its product page. Should your garage door not be compatible, they will send you a separate adapter to ensure compatibility.

With a top rating of 4.4 stars on Amazon based on over 9,000 reviews, the Meross smart garage door opener is currently a popular choice. I’ve recommended it to many people over the last year, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. I usually suggest following the instructional video from HomeKit Authority for assistance.

Another Meross Option

Meross also offers a very popular option called the Smart Garage Door Opener Remote with External Antenna, model MSG200HK. While I haven't tested this model myself, it holds a 4.4-star rating from nearly 10,000 reviewers on Amazon, and many Homekit.Blog readers have suggested it to me.

This model can control up to three single garage doors and integrates seamlessly with HomeKit. It is also hub-free.

iSmartGate HomeKit Garage Door Opener

Another viable alternative that my colleague Bradley Chambers reviewed last year comes from iSmartGate. While I haven't had the opportunity to try it myself, Bradley was quite impressed with its performance:

Once it’s set up and connected to your network, the next step is connecting it to your opener. The instructions for this process are excellent. You will need a small flat screwdriver to finish this part. You can configure it in two ways: wiring it directly to your opener or to the wall push button. I chose the direct connection to the opener since there was no power at the wall push button.

The iSmartGate HomeKit garage door opener is more expensive than the Meross alternative but appears to offer greater versatility. iSmartGate has a comprehensive compatibility checker available on its website. Additionally, it can control up to three garage doors if required.

Tailwind iQ3 Pro

Incorporating HomeKit support into my garage door setup is among the most favorable enhancements I've made to my smart home. It’s incredibly reassuring to quickly check the Home app to ensure the garage door is closed after leaving, and if it’s not, a single tap is all it takes to close it.
