Introducing U-Tec's New Smart Deadbolt Locks

U-Tec has announced three new smart deadbolt locks, each offering special features that are sure to impress. The company, known for its Ultraloq range, is now introducing the new Ultraloq Bolt series deadbolt locks, which will be the first time the brand will use the 'Works With Apple Home badge'. These locks also work with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings and even IFTTT.

Compatible with Apple HomeKit

While none of the three locks are available yet, the first two listed on the company's website are both compatible with Apple HomeKit. The Bolt NFC is compatible with both Apple HomeKit and Apple HomeKey, allowing access via Siri or the Apple Home app, or with a HomeKey-enabled iPhone or Apple Watch by simply tapping the front of the lock. The Bolt Fingerprint, on the other hand, comes with a biometric fingerprint sensor and is HomeKit compatible.

Great Features

Both locks feature a built-in keypad for setting access codes for each user, and use built-in WiFi via a module in the lock itself for added responsiveness. Installation or replacement of a standard deadbolt is straightforward, only requiring a few screws. The locks also require eight AA batteries.

Matter over Thread Version

According to The Verge, there is a Matter over Thread version of the Bolt Fingerprint model, which will be compatible with the aforementioned ecosystems via Matter and Thread. This version won't use WiFi, but Thread, allowing for longer battery life and more future-proofing.

Prices for the two Apple Home locks are $249, with the Matter over Thread version priced at $299. These locks will debut at CES2024.
