A Control Anywhere feature is being rolled out to the IKEA Home smart app. IKEA is introducing a Control Anywhere feature for its Home smart app. Update 1.16.3 has provided some users in the UK with the new tool, with IKEA rolling out the feature in phases. Control Anywhere allows you to control products in your IKEA smart home system via Wi-Fi or mobile networks. The IKEA Home Smart app has received a new Control Anywhere function. Version 1.16.3 for iOS was released a few days ago for some users in the UK; it looks like the company is rolling out the update in stages. It remains to be seen when the update could be made available to Android users. In the iOS release notes, IKEA stated that it had added the Control Anywhere feature, which allows you to control smart home devices when using Wi-Fi or the mobile network. In other words: with Control Anywhere you can access your IKEA smart home devices when you are not at home; For example, you can turn on the lights and close your smart blinds before you get home. It seems that this update will only work with devices connected to the DIRIGERA Hub and not the older TRADFRI gateway. Some users have reported that even though they have updated the app, the feature is not working; the DIRIGERA Hub itself will probably need an update for the tool to work. It is worth noting that this remote smart home access feature is already available for other smart home networks such as Apple HomeKit and Google Home.
