On this week's AppleInsider podcast, Apple announces the launch of a new self-repair service in 2022, Apple sells SharePlay-compatible applications, Apple Car efforts increase and we discuss whether Apple has weakened software stability.

Starting in early 2022, users will be able to purchase over 200 parts for the repair of iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and M1 Macs directly from Apple. It is an unexpected move by Apple, which seems to be addressing the Right to Repair movement, in which many have asked the company to open more repair options for their devices. Only major parts, such as the battery and iPhone screens, will be available at launch, but this will mean more opportunities for both users and third-party repair points.

Here is a report from Bloomberg claims that Apple is accelerating its efforts to produce a self-driving electric vehicle. Deciding to pursue a fully autonomous vehicle, it is said that Apple could launch the product in 2025.

However, in keeping with this year and this week, Apple has promoted new ways for users to connect via SharePlay. This is the feature originally announced at WWDC, but is only available now for all users with iOS 15.1 or iPadOS 15. (Mac will receive the feature "later this fall").

Along with Apple services such as Fitness + and Apple TV +, SharePlay can be used with Paramount +, Showtime, NBA, Twitch and even TikTok.

Also this week, we address recent criticism of Apple software from prominent leaker Jon Prosser. In a video quoting Steve Jobs, Prosser claims that Apple has given up the stability of the software. We analyze the current landscape of Apple platforms and services and compare current experiences with past software performance.
