Lightstrip: philips shade or ___?

Cupertino, January 31, 2021

Hoping to get some advice on what to buy. I am very new to smart home automation, but I have an idea that I would like to realize and I am a little overwhelmed by the variety of options. I want to put a light tape behind my bed and I wish I could schedule this to gradually fade in the morning before I wake up. I also like the idea of an adaptive form of lighting that works throughout the day. I don't have existing bridges, but I have a first-generation iPad Air that I think I can use as a home hub. Currently, I have two Eve Energy sockets and they worked well, but the Eve lightstrip has been unavailable, at least in Canada, for a long time. The Nanoleaf Essential tape seems like a month's worth of shipping, and the Bluetooth performance seems to be pretty bad (am I right when I think the only other way to control it is by using a HomePod mini?) So basically: Philips hue light strips or naw?
