The smart home brand Eve has unveiled a new smart outlet and a connected weather station that supports Spin smart home technology. Eve Energy is a new iteration of Eva's smart card, which can also keep track of the amount of energy the device connected to it uses and is priced at $ 39.95 / GBP 34.95 (about $ 50). It will be available in the US on April 6, although a launch date in the UK has not yet been confirmed.
Eve Weather is a replacement for the connected weather station Eve Degree, after a filling the device with FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in January. Monitor the temperature, humidity and air pressure in and around your home, which can be seen on the device itself or in the app on a smartphone or tablet.
Eve offered the weather station Thread as well as Bluetooth connectivity and is rated IPX3 so that it can be used outdoors. Eve Weather will cost $ 69.95 in the United States and will go on sale on March 25. Eve has not yet revealed if it will be available in the UK.
Eve Aqua
Eve also brings Thread support to its Eve Aqua smart water controller through a firmware update in April 2021. The smart home device allows you to control outdoor taps on your smartphone or tablet and is available in the US now for 99 .99 USD. All of Eva's products work with HomeKit, Apple's smart platform, although they are not compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant.
What is Thread?
Similar to Zigbee and Z-wave, Thread allows smart home devices from different manufacturers to connect to each other, but it's faster, provides a more reliable connection, and uses less power.
To use Thread in your smart home setup, you'll need a device that works like a Thread Border router so that different devices can talk to each other. HomePod Mini is the first smart home device to offer this functionality. However, more are expected to become available throughout 2021.
Thread is the future?
Thread technology aims to make smart homes more reliable and to ensure that you do not have to buy devices from the same manufacturer and we cannot dispute this feeling. However, Eve products currently only work with HomeKit, which will be a blow to many consumers who use Alexa and Google Assistant to control their smart homes.
