I just bought a new LG C3 oled TV and set it up with homekit. every time i turn off the tv it turns itself back on a few seconds later. After trying every possible setting to find the cause, I narrowed it down to the "Start via Wifi" setting in the external device settings […]
I've been trying to find a way to notify me if a sensor has been opened within a certain time. I have a shortcut that will create a calendar event and another shortcut that will check at 10am every day to see if there is that calendar event in the time frame. This all works […]
Since the last update (and the subsequent issue with all my accessories showing up as "not responding"), I've been having issues where my Philips Hue lights will randomly turn on. I think this may be related to the "start when first person gets home" automation, as it seems like it's just those lights that randomly […]
I have a DIY HomeKit alarm system that I control with a hidden smart button. In a niche above the hidden button is a HomeKit light strip. When the system is set to "AWAY" mode, the LED turns red, indicating that the alarm is active. When the system is set to "HOME" mode, the light […]
I looked through homekit.blog and saw if it had been a few years since this thread was active. At the time there were none to speak of, but I was wondering if anyone still knows about these? Just moved into a rented house and assumed they were GU10, purchased to test it but it didn't […]
I recently removed all the Homepod Minis from my house and was confident that the current generation AppleTV 4k running model would take over the Thread duties. Boy was I wrong. After days of trying to remove/reset/add my Eve Energy outlets with all combinations of button presses...I finally found out that the current generation AppleTV […]
I'm completely new to all of this so I hope this is a stupid misunderstanding for newbies. I work from home a lot these days and I wanted to have a light in front of the door that would show if I was on a call so my family wouldn't disturb me. A smart light […]
Hi guys, new to HomeKit here. I'm just looking for some good security systems that work with HomeKit. What security system do you use and why did you choose it?
I have an Aqara P3 IR air conditioner controller connected to HomeKit. It controls an AC (a Hisense model) and I was able to successfully set p3 to control the AC unit. However, the power status can get out of sync with what's in HomeKit. For example, if the AC is turned on in HomeKit […]
I'm about to give up homekit. It seems like there just aren't great options for accessories, mainly for cameras and doorbells. I've been waiting patiently and with every update I get my hopes up, but nothing new seems to have been added and the options there are hell. I missed something? I think I want […]
Hi all, I just found out about the controller and using homebridge to provide fake switches in HomeKit. It works great, but I'd like to set up an automation for something like a "script" like in the home assistant. So: At 22:00 run the goodnight scene daily (finished) The goodnight scene turns off all the […]
Updated to 17.1 and now it shows this when I try to open the app. Before that everything was working fine. I used the HomeKit widgets on the control center daily. Now they are all gone from the control center. If I ask Siri to do something about the lights, she says no lights are […]
Hi, I'm looking for a smart lock that has the home key feature and can work with an Apple Watch as it seems so convenient. However, I had a hard time deciding between the two locks. At the time of posting, the Aqara U100 is $134 on Amazon due to Prime Day. Schlage is not […]
Practical title. Last night I updated my hue lights to firmware version 1.104.2 via the Hue app. However if I go to the light settings in the Home app it says the firmware is still 1.76.11. 1.76.11 is the firmware the lights were running when I first added them to HomeKit. I wonder if incorrect […]
I have two Schlage Encode Plus locks and today I replaced the 4 AA batteries with 4 fully charged Eneloop batteries, but on the app and Homekit it only shows them at 56% charged. correct?
I have fluorescent lights in the bathroom and no access to the switch, so I can't add a HomeKit switch. Are there HomeKit lights for fluorescent lights or any other way to make them controllable with HomeKit? Thanks!
I don't understand why my Homepod is giving me this error. I have the tint lights setup in the Home app and in the app I have the Adaptive Lighting option. So why is Siri giving me this error? Any help/solutions would be appreciated
Hi everyone, I have a problem with my Hue lights. I set them up in the home app and it shows me the adaptive lighting option. I can switch between colors perfectly. It's fast and responsive. However, when I try to change it from a color back to adaptive lighting, the lights don't change. The […]
Sometimes we like to open the top floor windows when the weather is nice, but I have to manually adjust the thermostats to keep the AC from turning on. Most of the sensors I've found are for security purposes, which is irrelevant to my use case since there's no way someone can break into these […]
Launching homekit in CC does nothing 80% of the time
I recently installed a new garage door opener: liftmaster 87504R-267. It has MyQ, Wifi and a camera with two-way communication available. Like most smart smart home enthusiasts, I run my smart home exclusively from Apple HomeKit. I looked into adding this device to Apple HomeKit in two ways. 1) I would like to be able […]
I am the primary user for my home. I have no problem using our HomePod for personal requests like "text so and so", or "ping my phone", etc. My wife, on the other hand, has a lot of trouble with it. I've double-checked and double-checked that she does indeed have personal requests enabled and the […]
Do we know of a meter to measure a household propane tank? I have [https://www.smartoilgauge.com/](https://www.smartoilgauge.com/) for my oil but now wondering about the propane….
Ever since I got IOS 17 I've had issues with my departure and arrival automations. I set it where when I leave the house it will turn off all the lights and set the security system. When I get home, turn on a few select lights and turn off the security system. This hasn't happened […]
I've made posts and comments about how horrible these things are in the past in terms of setup and false alarms. In the last 3 days they have reached a new level of annoying. Since Saturday they seem to have spontaneously started doing self-tests in the morning (which of course is preferable to false alarms […]
For all the issues with Siri, being able to do this from across the house is fantastic every morning
Hi, I recently created a new generic family iCloud account so I can invite a backup computer into my home environment. (it's in the kitchen - the rest of the family uses it!) This family account obviously doesn't have an iPhone to use for location sharing. I think this causes a problem with home automations, […]
I picked up a few of these cameras at Best Buy today. A bit pricey but works great so far. It can store video clips using HKSV, or if you want 24/7 you can use a local SD card or ONVIF to stream to a NAS. All three can work at the same time. Video […]
The bot does not allow links to Amazon. Look for the KS205P3, it's only $48.25 CAD for the 3-pack today.
I have a front door being installed, about 56mm thick. I would like to get the Shlage Encode Plus but it only accepts the maximum door thickness of 45mm. I was advised by the door manufacturer to avoid reducing the thickness to 45mm. Are there any good locks that accept HomeKey for this door thickness?
